Equity Cheques Are On Their Way!
If you've been a Tofino Co-op member since February 1st, 2025 or earlier, your equity statement—and cheque, if you're eligible—is on the way!
This year, all cheques have been mailed* for your convenience, so be sure to check your mailbox.
*Exception: If you provided a local Tofino address without a PO box or are listed as General Delivery in Tofino, your cheque is being held at the Food Store Admin Office. You can pick it up in person between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM daily.
Friendly reminder – only the individual noted on the statement can pick up the cheque and will be required to show photo ID.
Moved recently or recently signed up for a PO box in Tofino? This is a great time to update your mailing address with us to ensure smooth delivery in the future.
How is your cheque amount determined?
• If member equity is between $10 and $500, pay 25% of allocation in cash and 75% in equity.
• If member equity is between $501 and $750, pay 50% of allocation in cash, and 50% in equity.
• If member equity is between $751 and $999, pay 75% of allocation in cash, and 25% in equity.
• If member equity is $1000 or more, pay 100% of allocation in cash.
The eligibility period for purchases is from February 2024 - February 2025, so any purchases made thereafter will be included in next year’s equity allocations. Equity for the eligibility period is 5% of purchases. This amount grows until it reaches a maximum of $1000.00, sometimes taking years to reach that amount depending on your purchasing habits.
You're able to withdraw your equity if you move out of the trading area (Tofino or Ucluelet), or once you hit the age of 65.
