Produce Clerk

Seasonal Contract until Sept 15th

As a Produce Clerk with the Tofino Co-op, you are responsible for the proper stocking and rotation of merchandise in the produce department. At the Co-op, it is our priority to provide only the freshest and highest quality products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Looking specifically for support with unloading freight, must be able to lift up to 50lb and be ok with regular lifting as part of position

• Come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude
• Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
• Provide outstanding courteous customer service
• Be familiar with and adhere to all Tofino Co-op policies and procedures
• Inspect all merchandise and communicate with the Produce Operator when excessive spoilage, shrinkage and
shortages in inventory are evident
• When assigned, to be responsible for the receiving, inspecting and storage of merchandise
• Prepare, assemble and display all produce department related inventories
• Ensure all specified overnight care and department handling procedures are adhered to
• When assigned to maintain adequate inventory levels and stock control procedures
• Adhere to association policies and procedures relating to the maintenance, sanitation and safety of all association
assets
• Display an interest and willingness to learn through training or on-the-job experience as there could be potential to develop into a leadership position
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A secondary school diploma is preferred
• Previous retail experience is considered an asset
• Excellent customer service skills
• Attention to detail
• Must be able to lift 50lb

Working Conditions:

• Part-time (24-32h per week, week days)

• No staff accommodation available

Physical Requirements:

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift for up to 8 hours
• Physically demanding; frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending stairs
